Fuerza Tranquila now with CD!

(November 17, 2011)

We know that our customers don't always hava a pianist at their every beck and call, so you'll be glad to know that our haunting 'Fuerza tranquila' (quiet strength) now comes with CD at no extra charge. The CD features concert A tuning note, a full demonstration (alto saxohphone & piano) and piano backing track. The recording musicians were Keri Degg on saxophone (the composer) and Alistair Parnell on piano.

In case you don't know much about the piece; It was written in 2009 after the composer was introduced to the music of Astor Piazzolla (Argentinian tango composer/musician). Such was the impact of this sorrowfully lilting yet passionate style, Fuerza tranquila was born. It was dedicated to friend Ken Handley who had inspired the composer with his own 'quiet strength' after the loss of his beloved wife Olive.

Graded at around grade 6/7, the piece allows the performers to communicate on a deeper level with intertwining melodies and a contrasting 'mini' cadenza. Recently the piece was recorded by Cross Island Ensemble, USA in a cello / piano adaptation. We think it works really well. Here's the link to the audio; http://www.myspace.com/crossislandensemble

Fuerza tranquila is available in our shop in either 'hard copy' format or emailed (pdf / mp3) delivery from £4.50.
